Indulge Yourself in the Night Lights of August
Aug 06, 2018
This month offers visitors a variety of ways to see some fantastic evening scenery. First, don’t forget about the Pleiades Meteor Shower, which is forecast to peak on the evenings of August 12-13. Ask us about secluded spots near the Hermosa Inn ideal for stargazing. Next, don’t miss the last few weeks of the Night Lights Tour at Taliesin West in nearby Scottsdale. See Frank Lloyd Wright’s desert jewel in the moonlight in all its glory, including its famous fire-breathing dragon! August 25 is the final evening for this event, so don’t miss out. Call (888) 516-0811 for reservations.
Lastly, hop on the Verde Canyon Railroad on August 25 or September 15 for one of their ‘Detours of the American West’ tours. Enjoy a spectacular sunset and magnificent evening views of the desert on this rail journey that takes you around the Verde Valley, including the Copper Art Museum in Clarkdale and the historic ghost town of Jerome, once known as the “Wickedest Town in the West” due to its many bordellos, its gambling, and gunfights.
