Artist-in-Residence Brunch with Dan Perin

Growing up in a home filled with art, Dan Perin discovered at an early age an innate talent for drawing and painting. Although Perin pursued a career in banking in New York, his passion remained in art. In 1980, Perin moved to Arizona to join the Arizona Bank, which had a fabulous art collection.

Because the Bank's Chairman was immersed in the art community, he was drawn in as well. At the urging of a colleague, Perin enrolled in the Jim Strong Art School and attended evening classes.

Over the years, Dan has studied with various Arizona artists, including Jim Strong, Harold Nelson, Andrew Peters and Cindy Garrison. Stimulated by the magnificence of Arizona's deserts, mountains and canyons, he started out painting landscapes. However, he soon fell in love with the beauty, variety and complexity of cactus blossoms and has been painting them ever since. View his work at http://www.danperin.com.
