Carrie Curran, an accomplished oil painter and watercolorist is noted for her talent in Plein Air painting and floral landscapes.
Her contemporary impressionistic paintings are inspired by the luminosity of the Arizona desert and fields of Midwest wildflowers. Her works exhibit extraordinarily rich, thick elegant brushstrokes glimmering against glazed atmospheric backgrounds.
Influenced by her artist mother who taught oil painting classes and worked on museum piece restorations, Carrie Curran began developing her artistic skills at an early age. Her formal training began at Indiana University with undergraduate work in Europe at Cambridge University, England and continued in small classroom settings with renowned artists such as Quang Ho, Matt Smith, John Assaro, Charles Reid, Sherri McGraw, and David Leffel. Curran also initiated and developed the Scottsdale Artists' School Youth Academy, an innovative organization that increases expression and self-esteem in children through the creation of fine art.
