The original Anchor Distilling Co. was established in 1993 by Fritz Maytag, the same beverage visionary that sparked the craft beer movement through his purchase of Anchor Brewing in 1965.
Fritz recalls, "Those of us that were there in the early days just had a fantastic time, because we knew we were onto something that was really unique. If we were right, we could change the brewing world. And we did that… and it was marvelous."
